Economist Club Luxembourg: 20th anniversary of University of Luxembourg – Invitation to Prof. Andreas Irmen’s lecture

Posté le il y a 1 an
Dear Member of the Economist Club,

The Economist Club Luxembourg is pleased to invite you to celebrate our partnership with the University of Luxembourg, by joining the lecture (in English) of Prof. Andreas Irmen, Full professor of Macroeconomics and applied Microeconomics at the University of Luxembourg and Board member of the Economist Club : « The World Economic History in 4 Figures, 1 Photo, and 1 Table ».

The event, co-sponsored by the Economist Club Luxembourg as part of the lecture series at the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the University of Luxembourg, is scheduled on Thursday, January 11th, 2024, at 6:00 pm at the Weicker Building (4, rue Alphonse Weicker, L-2721 Luxembourg) and will be followed by a cocktail reception.

Attendance is free of charge, but we kindly request that you register by confirming your participation via email to secretariat@economistclub.lu. Registration deadline is Monday, Jan 8th.

By registering via email, you accept that your name will be communicated to the University of Luxembourg only for registration purposes in line with GDPR requirements, unless you notify your disagreement in writing.

Abstract of the event: “For most of human history, the world’s population was equally poor. The sustained increase in living standards is a recent phenomenon. It affected some countries earlier than others, leading to huge discrepancies in the living standards across countries. The time span from 1950 to today is likely to be the greatest period of poverty alleviation in world economic history. Yet, economic growth tends to peter out in the rich countries. Environmental degradation, world population growth, new technologies and a changing geopolitical landscape are key determinants of future living standards and their geographical distribution.”

We look forward to welcoming you.

For the Board of Directors of the Economist Club Luxembourg,
